What Kind of Scholarships Are Available for MBA in Marketing Majors?

While an MBA program can greatly increase your marketability in the business world, this degree can also be quite costly (see: Is An MBA in Marketing Worth the Cost?) The good news is that there are plenty of scholarship opportunities available for students pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration(MBA) degree with a concentration in marketing. If that is the career path you’d like to enter, read on to learn more about some of the scholarships available and how to apply.

LaGrant Foundation Graduate Scholarships

This foundation focuses on increasing the impact of minority students in the worlds of public relations, advertising, and marketing. Graduate students pursuing an MBA in marketing are eligible for a $5,000 scholarship if they are of African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino or Native American/American Indian descent, have at least a 3.2 GPA, and have at least two semesters of the MBA program left to complete at an accredited college or university. Though the application deadline for 2014 scholarships has passed, 2015 scholarships will be available shortly. Learn more and apply at http://www.lagrantfoundation.org/Graduate%20Scholarships.

QS Top MBA

The website topmba.com provides thousands of dollars in scholarship funds to MBA students each year. In order to be eligible, students must first attend a QS Marketing Fair; dates and locations are available on the website at http://www.topmba.com/scholarships. Next, fill out the MBA applicant survey, also located on the group’s website. This will enter you in the appropriate scholarships based on your interests and qualifications. Applications are due twice a year, by May 31 and December 31, in order to be eligible.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Merit Scholarship

This award is for full-time graduate students, including MBA candidates, who have a GPA of at least 3.0 and who have demonstrated involvement in and commitment to community service. The annual deadline to apply is August 15; students may apply online at http://www.akaeaf.org/graduate_scholarships.htm.

With average yearly tuition in an MBA program at an estimated $40,000, and a much higher cost for the top programs in the country, scholarships for MBA marketing programs are a smart way to fund this valuable degree. In addition to the opportunities on this list, students should also check for scholarship funding opportunities from the college they plan to attend.
