As a marketing major, you may be able to find a position as a purchasing agent. Your job will be to work with suppliers and vendors to negotiate pricing and contract terms when the government buys materials, products or even services. To offer fair pricing, a purchasing agent must be an expert in the laws of supply and demand and active government restrictions and regulations.

Advanced Positions in Trade

A trade specialist is an expert in goods and services as well as export and import laws. When you work as a trade specialist, you will act as a liaison between domestic trade organizations and international organizations. You will also need to know about the economy, politics and specific regions of the country. Local Level Sports Marketers

If you would like to work at a local level and have a passion for sports, you may be able to find a sports marketing opening through a parks and recreation department. You will be in charge of using various methods to promote current programs locally through the media. You will also be in charge of marketing to a specific niche to increase participation and enrollment in sports programs.

Some individuals prefer to work for the government because they feel that they will receive better benefits and enjoy greater job stability. If you would like to work for a public agency rather than a private corporation, it is important to know what types of unique titles exist in marketing at the governmental level.
